Valley Of Fire State Park, Nv

Monday: Las Vegas Rio Parking
What luck! The parking lot at the Rio Casino is right next to the railroad tracks. There are lots of trains that go by. We like trains. But, one of the tracks had a train stopped on it both Saturday and Sunday and unfortunately, it was the track on our side so we couldn't see the trains. This morning, the train was gone so good train viewing.
The mornings go quickly. We have good intentions of getting going early but it's always a late start recently. We went to breakfast at a local restaurant Blueberry Pancake Restaurant on Decatur. Very good. We then went over to Walmarts for supplies and groceries.

We finally were on the road about 1pm headed toward The Valley Of Fire State Park North of Las Vegas, about 50 miles off I15.Nice park. We camped at Atlatl Campground. Very nice park. We went to see the Bee Hives and the Petrified Logs.
For some reason, the past three days the Datastorm system has been having problems getting connected to the Internet. Don't know what the problem is? It finds the satellite but has difficulty completing the tests to get a steady connection. Probably we're to close to Area 51.
Tuesday: We tried flying a new kite this morning but there wasn't quite enough wind.
We drove around to all the featured sites and hiked the associated trails. The petroglyths were interesting. The rock formations are quite colorful and have very intersting shapes. We even saw Elmer Fudd looking out from the top of a rock. Tomorrow we'll be on the road again toward Quartzsite. This place is definitely a keeper and we'll be back when we have more time.
