Cold In Monterey

The class Dawn is auditing is meeting in Monterey today. We all made our way down there via San Martin to have breakfast at Scramblez restaurant on Dunne Ave. It's just off highway 101. We then continued on to Monterey via Highway 156 then Highway 1.

We arrived about an hour early. Dawn's class took a walking tour of the historical sites in Monterey.

Lou and I explored nearby visiting the wharf and some of the shops and gardens of the historic area and State Park. The sea lions held a parade (above left) and some pirates departed the wharf in a tall ship (above right). The ship is actually visiting here and giving tours of the bay for $65. We opted not to take the tour. The captain of the ship ran into the dock and over some bouys on his departure. Must be a sturdy ship.

We had dinner of clam chowder on the wharf at The Olde Fisherman's Grotto. All day the wind was blowing and it was cold.
We then headed toward home. We did take a little driving tour of the Elkhorn Slough Reserve then returned to Highway 1 and then Highway 17 over the mountains from Santa Cruz to home.

We stopped by RiteAide to get some herb plants that Dawn wants to start. They're having a sale on them than ends today.
