Bellingham, Washington

Monday: (10/03) Pancakes and sausage for breakfast. We hooked up and were on our way South. It took about an hour to get through the border crossing. We were asked four questions and were on our way. Fortunately we new the right answers but apparently all the people in front of us hadn't studied for the test. We stopped here in Bellingham. First stop was at Fred meyer's for some groceries. We had lunch there as well, chicken, sausage and coleslaw. Somehow we had lost all our maps and guides for Washington so we picked up some more at the local AAA office. After all that activity we decided to settle in for the night here. After checking out the Larrabee State Park South of town and exploring the old town of Fairhaven we decided that Walmart was a better choice for the night. For dinner we had leftovers. I had chili beans and toast and Lou had red cabbage and hot dogs

We went out to the Big Rock park East of town. Seems like it should have been easy to find, "big" rock and all. It's kind of in an out of the way location but is a nice little park with about 20-30 sculptures scatters along the many trails.

Some were interesting, others so-so.

Nice walk.

Next stop was the Sohome Hill Arboretum located above the Western Washington University campus.

It was a pretty steep hike up the hill and a nice return hike. At the top is a nice lookout platform that gives a good view of the sound below. When we were returning home a little after noon i notice the Wonderful Buffet. I've been wanting a good Chinese buffet for a while and this turned out to be wonderful. We hooked up and headed for the highway after lunch.
