Monday: (09/29) Lou and Dawn went down to San Jose for their calsses. I tinkered around not accomplishing much.
Tuesday: (09/30) Another one of those awful days of rising before 9am. This morning the City inspector is scheduled for the final (only) inspection on the siding installation. The window is from 8am-12pm. He arrived about 11:18, placed his hand on the siding, said it was attached and signed the form. Passed! What a confidence builder! Actually I find no benefit to the inspection process unless the fact the City received a $450 fee and didn't expend a lot of resources in performing the service is a benefit. Perhaps the "taxes" will not need to be raised as quickly?
I then cleaned up and hurried to catch a train to San Francisco. I stopped in Redwood City for lunch. The train ticket is good for a period between zones so no additional cost. The purpose of the trip though was that I wanted to attend an Adobe user group meeting about the new release of CS4, an upgrade to many of their products used in web development. The meeting wasn't until 6:30 but I hate to waste the travel costs so usually talk a walk-about in the city while I'm at it. As usual it was quite interesting seeing the demonstration of the new features by the developers of the product. Since the meeting is at Adobe's offices, all the developers have to do is walk down stairs. The offices are only 2 blocks from the train station. The meeting ended a bit after 9pm so I returned on the 9:30 train. It's a little over a mile walk back home from the station.
Wednesday: (10/01) A nice normal morning, late rising. My main project of the day is to cleanup the RV interior. I made a return run to the hardware store to get rid of some surplus pipe fittings from the drain project. I then stopped at Whole foods for breakfast.
Time to get to work.
If all goes as currently planned tomorrow we'll go back up to San Francisco to attend a broadcast of a local show "The View From The Bay." We'll then head North either then or Friday morning toward Prarrie Creek State Park.
Thursday: (10/02) This morning we tinkered at preparing to hit the road. But, about 0930 we headed North in the car to Milbrea, about half wat to San Francisco. We stopped at one of our favorite restaurants, Neil's for breakfast. Dawn had Eggs benedict and I had corned beef hash and Lou shared from both. More than enough. Then we caught a BART (Bay Area Radid Transit) train into San Francisco. We were headed to a live TV show "View From The Bay" at KGO-TV. We were a bit early so we looked around witing for the 2:15 entrance time. The show was good. Chaz Palmateri was the guest and there were a couple of cooking segments. It was fun seeing how easy it was for Spencer Christian and Janelle Wang the hosts as well as the staff. Even though the show has been on for several years, they just started the studio audience thing about a month ago.
After the show, we climbed the stairs toward Coit Tower about a block away. The studios are down by the water and Coit Tower is on top of a hill above it. There are some very fancy old houses on the walk up the stairs where, in a level community, there would be a street. This is the home of some very nice gardens where the street would be and also home to a huge flock of greek parrots. They are always fun to watch. There is another flock near our home in Palo Alto and another in Sunnyvale. They seem to like the area.
We then caught the train home and continued preparing for the road.
