RV Windshield Repair And Smog Test

Friday: (07/16) I tried to clean the windshield around noon and the glue wasn’t dry yet. When I tried to clean it in the evening it was so hard it was impossible to get off. In fact, I think it actually etched the glass so it may be a permanent scar but hopefully, at least, the crack should be stopped. I also worked in the office. Lou made steak and eggs with home fried potatoes for breakfast. Chopped salads from our Corner Bakery Cafe for lunch. Baked potatoes for dinner.

Saturday: (07/17) Granola and banana for breakfast. I was off at 0830 with the RV to get the smog test completed. The RV has the cleanest engine of any vehicle I’ve ever had tested. It barely meets the minimum emission both this test and the last test. After the test I stopped and filled the LPG since I was out. It only took 2.7 gallons. Impressive since it’s been months since we last filled it. We received a package from Fedex. It was an early delivery of the new lithium battery for Dawn's scooter. I started the conversion but lunchtime interrupted the job. We all went to lunch at the Country Inn restaurant in Cupertino then Lou and Dawn visited a couple of thrift stores as I caught up on a couple of YouTube videos. Back home I needed a nap and that was it for the day. Ramen noodles with sausage for dinner.

Sunday: (07/18) Dawn made some kind of steamed cheese cake for breakfast. I installed the new LiFePo4 battery and charger in Dawn’s Zappy scooter. The old batteries were charged by an external charger. There was plenty of room for the charger to be onboard now and bringing the AC plug pigtail outside the battery compartment was easier than mounting the DC connector on the housing. It was too big to fit easily. I left it on charge so we can take the first ride this afternoon. For lunch I had a ham and cheese sandwich with avocado dip spread. I worked on the new front yard garden spot. I removed the roots and turned the dirt with the shovel. Then I added some water. I should be able to use the rototiller in a couple of days, then start the removal of bad dirt and debris and add the compost. Dawn made some squash soup for dinner.

Monday: (07/19) I managed to relax all day. I did take a run around the neighborhood on Dawn’s trike to add more use of the battery. Fried toast with PBJ and soft boiled eggs for breakfast. Dawn made some squash soup for lunch. Lou made pasta with peppers and squash and some sausage for dinner.

Car Washes, RV Tinkering, Gardening, Etc.

Friday: (07/17) Granola for breakfast. I washed the Hyundai this morning. About 1300 I headed off to Redwood City to look over the new Outdoor hardware Supply (That replaced one of the old Orchard Supply Hardware stores). Nicely stocked with some unfamiliar brands and a little too high of prices. I picked up a veggie burrito from El Gruelense Yaqueria on my way home.

Saturday: (07/18) Granola and banana for breakfast. I finished setting up the new, and old faucet sprinkler timers for access via the web. After a pastrami sandwich for lunch, I tinkered in the RV for a while. Grilled veggies with chicken and potatoes for dinner

Sunday: (07/19) We had breakfast from a good morning. I was tinkering in the garden and also anchored the vent fan in the RV battery compartment. I had to fabricate the mount. I had been thinking of trying to install ducting to get the air into the lower compartment but couldn’t figure a workable way so I opted to just mount the fan. If it needs more I’ll install a second fan to move air between the compartment sections all without ducting. Otherwise I was relaxing in my man cave (RV). A pastrami and cheese sandwich for lunch. Leftover stew for dinner.

Monday: (07/20) Granola and banana for breakfast. I took the Jeep in to get the Start/Stop feature working again. It’s been inop for months. I walked back home from Sunnyvale Jeep. A pastrami and cheese sandwich for lunch. Steak with baked potatoes and corn on the cob for dinner.

Tuesday: (07/21) Granola and banana for breakfast. I had a dentist appointment this morning to get two fillings touched up and a plug put in my implant. Interesting what they are doing to make visiting the dentist the safest place you could be. On the way home I got lunch from a new, to me, Chinese Restaurant, the First Wok in Sunnyvale. I relaxed the rest of the day. Chicken with carrots and tater tots for dinner.

Wednesday: (07/22) Granola and banana for breakfast. Leftover Chinese food for lunch. I installed the new kitchen sink faucet in the RV. Looks nice. I did have to make a run to Ace hardware to get a couple of adapters and fittings. Leftovers for dinner.

A Little Shop Work

Tuesday: (07/14) Granola for breakfast. I tinkered in my shop and did some cleanup and rearranging. I brought the table saw out and cut some stuff for the hobby drawer mods in the RV. A little trip to the hardware store to get some hardware to finish the hobby drawer. I spray varnished the wood for the drawer and kitchen cupboard door filler. We moved one door to allow access when the slide is in and that left a gap that will now be filled, tomorrow after the pieces are all dry. Salsa and chips for lunch. Shepherd’s pie for dinner.

Wednesday: (07/15) Granola for breakfast. I installed the latch on the hobby drawer and the kitchen spacer. A chopped salad for lunch. Stew for dinner.

RV Jacks Problem Again

Saturday: (05/09) Lou didn’t feel well all day. I helped Dawn with an online class she had in the morning. In the afternoon I added the manure to the garden and tilled it in. I also stored away the extra mortar and sand that, hopefully, will be used later in the yard project. I also did the RV laundry. I made sausage eggs and potatoes for breakfast. Chili beans for lunch. Dawn made butternut squash soup for dinner.

Sunday: (05/10) I looked at why the RV jacks aren’t working. The left front isn’t going down. This is the problem that Leale’s supposedly fixed for us last year by replacing a breaker. At that time it was also not allowing the slides to work. The breaker probably fixed the inop slides but evidently the jack problem fixed itself, for a while. We had no problems during our tour of the East coast. I had hoped it was just the hot weather since it was an extremely hot day that we returned home on. Cool mornings didn’t fix it. Little looking online indicated it might be that the jack was retracted too far, one of five possible causes for the error code I got. I checked and it looked like it might have so i got my drill motor out and lowered it a little manually. They others then extracted properly and then they all went down normally. All good now. Next project was dumping the holding tanks and filling the water. I also helped Dawn do some planting in her garden. Otherwise a nice day in my RV office tinkering on the computer. Soft boiled eggs for breakfast. Chili beans for lunch. Dawn’s rice donuts for dinner with some cottage cheese..

Relaxing and RV Tinkering

Saturday: (02/22) I worked on relocating the battery monitor and inverter remote panel. Unfortunately, the battery monitor didn’t work at the new location. I swapped the cable and it still didn’t work. I must have killed the module somehow. Oh well, something to keep me busy for a while. Waffles for breakfast. Cooked pears with pecans for lunch. Dinner at Harry’s Hofbrau.

Sunday: (02/23) I mostly relaxed all day. I did get outside to close up the RV refrigerator vent which I had to remove and open the wire to remove the cables to the old battery monitor location. About 1800 I headed off toward home. I stopped at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on the way to restock the apartment. Biscuits and gravy for breakfast. Crackers and hummus for lunch. Baked fish with asparagus and rice for dinner.

New RV Toilet

Saturday: (02/01) Eggs, sausage and potatoes for breakfast. I had a relaxing morning. I planned and published a hike for this coming Friday. I then got busy and installed the new toilet in the RV. Our old one had a crack and leaked.. Hummus toast for lunch. Roasted Russel's sprouts for dinner.

Sunday: (02/02) We all headed up to Hillsdale Mall to see what’s new. Still not much more after the remodeling. We stopped for lunch at The Counter hamburger restaurant for some expensive burgers. I had an Impossible burger and Lou and Dawn shared another burger. Of course, we stopped at a thrift store on the way home. Roasted cauliflower and fish for dinner.

A Little Work And Fun

Tuesday: (01/07) I was the chauffeur again today. I took Lou to an appointment in Santa Clara and Dawn to an appointment in San Jose. After that, we went to lunch in Campbell at Aqui’s restaurant. We then located Dawns Health Care offices in South San Jose and dropped off some papers. We returned to Santa Clara and visited the Walmart Neighborhood Market for a few things , then headed home. I then took Dawn to the library to pick a book she ordered. At home, I made spaghetti for dinner. In the evening I scheduled a hike for next Monday and applied for the permit.

Wednesday: (01/08) Leftover spaghetti for breakfast. I tinkered in the morning. I fed the cat and gave him some attention. I installed new armrests on the wheelchair. And then I started moving the paving bricks from the pallet in the driveway to the side of the house. It doesn’t seem like I’ll be getting to that job soon. I can’t start until Lou and Dawn finish using the tent for their cleanup activities. Before I finished, we all headed off to return some equipment to La Avanidas senior center. We then went to lunch at Sweet Tomatoes. On the way home, we shopped at Sprouts. Back home I finished moving the bricks and tied the pallet on top of the little car to be returned later. Dawn made some soup for dinner. I finished an electrical drawing and notes for the RV.

Thursday: (01/09) A rainy relaxing morning. Leftover spaghetti for breakfast. We finally headed out to lunch and for an indoor walk. We tried to leave and got a call from Cecelia that she was coming over to talk. We returned the one block back to the house. Again, we departed and tried to get lunch at a Panera Bread but the line was out the door. We continued on to Super Taqueria, Lou and I shared a super burrito and Dawn had a quesadillas. We stopped by a thrift store and a Target store to fulfill Lou’s need for a walk. Back home, I got to work on the RV and removed the old solar controller and rewired the shunts. Tomorrow, hopefully, I’ll get the new DC-DC charger installed. More leftovers for dinner.

Friday: (01/10) It was raining in the morning. Later, I worked on the RV installing a cable from the starting battery to the new charger in other battery compartment and removed some cabling related to the old charger and solar controller. I fried some eggs and vegetable bacon and added toast for my breakfast. Lou and Dawn had spaghetti. Leftovers for dinner.

Saturday: (01/11) Granola and banana for breakfast. I worked on the RV electrical mods installing and rerouting some cables. Lunch at Super Taqueria again. Lou and I stopped by Lowe’s Home Improvement to get some hardware. And then a stop at Sprouts before getting home. I did some more work on the RV. I still need to install one cable and the temperature sensor and then check it out. Unfortunately I ran out of #4 cable so it has to wait until tomorrow's shipment arrives. Scalloped potatoes with carrots and sausage for dinner.

Sunday: (01/12) Dawn’s leftover soup for breakfast. I finished installing the Renology DCC50S dc-dc charger in the RV. I was missing enough of the proper sized cable to finish the install so I installed a temporary larger cable and tested the operation. Nothing smoked but the breaker that connects to charger to the house battery tripped when I ran the RV engine. Further looking at the manual told me that it may be too low a rating. I had gone down 5 amps and it should be higher. I ordered the needed cable and breakers. The cable came just after I tested it. I installed the new cable and put away all my stuff that I collected for the installation. We went to Super Taqueria again for lunch.. Leftovers for dinner.

Some RV Improvements

Saturday: (01/04) I worked on the RV making a mount for the new DC-DC battery charger and increased the size of the storage compartment. Now waiting for some paint to dry. I’ll also be installing some vents into the compartment under the RV. My hole saw should arrive today. I decided to do some tree trimming so I removed a couple of 6 inch limbs from our neighbors tree that hang low over the fence in our yard. I filled one compost bin with the trimmings. Granola for breakfast. A tuna sandwich for lunch. I picked up dinner from LUU Noodle House.

Sunday: (01/05) I did a little pruning of the blueberry bushes and some weeding in the front flower bed. Lou took a walk to the corner and back, no cane, no walker and no problem. I prepared ham and eggs with fried mashed potatoes for breakfast. Leftover Chinese for lunch.

Another Pair Of battleborn Batteries

Wednesday: (12/11) I was off shopping in the morning. I stopped for a breakfast burrito at A Good Morning restaurant. I visited Walmart, Safeway and Sprouts to get all my shopping needs. At home I had to inspect the crew doing the asphalt repair on the driveway apron. A little chopped veggie salad for lunch. My new RV BattleBorn Lithium batteries arrived. It's my second pair to replace the two remaining AGM batteries. I installed the new batteries with no sparks. I also corrected a wiring error I made that displayed negative current when charging via the solar system. That was because I placed the negative of the solar charger on the battery negative not below the shunt. It worked correctly for one set of batteries but not the other pair. However, I still have to add a second battery monitor if I want seperate systems. So more to do.

New Transportation, An eBike

Saturday: (10/12) Granola and banana for breakfast. I put on my new helmet and took a ride on my new electric bike. Wow was it cold out this morning. Obviously should have worn long pants. The new bike really goes. I need to get a lock for it then I’ll take a longer trip possibly out to lunch somewhere about 5 miles away. Back home, I relaxed and warmed up then got outside. I had to clean up my shop so I can fit the new bike there. I managed to throw away quite a bit of the junk that collected. Then I took another spin on the bike before retiring into the house to relax. A nice sausage hummus sandwich for lunch. Chili baked potato with a sausage for dinner.

Sunday: (10/13) I groomed and pruned the rear flowerbed and arbor in the backyard. I also checked all the drip irrigation emitters. I trimmed back some succulents and threw away my last thorned cacti. It has been around a long time having sat on my desk for 20 years but in a large pot and getting water, it was now two feet tall with lots of branches. I also took another stab at setting up the new sprinkler controller for the front yard. It failed to complete the first setup and was unresponsive after that. I reset it today and stumbled through the setup. The front yard planters will be happier now. I also installed some clip on lights in the tent for Lou. Lou made pancakes and sausage for breakfast. We had tomato soup and toast for lunch. About 2000 we went to the Mexican market and did some shopping. Back home, we had a seafood and green salad for dinner with some flan for dessert.

Fixing Things At Home

Thursday: (10/03) Granola and diced apple for breakfast. I worked on the sprinklers to start. I completed the replumbing of the greenhouse sprinkler. I stole the feed that was used so i connected the ceiling sprinklers to use the new timer located in the greenhouse. I also installed the new Bhyve sprinkler timer in the garage to replace the old timer. The Bhyve timers are Internet connected. Unfortunately i could complete the setup. I also replaced a couple of emitters. After lunch I finally got to work on the shed roof. I completed installing the rest of the screws holding the plywood on and installed and cut some flashing. Leftover chicken with rice for lunch. Lou made chicken with artichoke over rice for dinner.

Friday: (10/04) Dry granola for breakfast. Lou and Dawn were off grocery shopping early. We were out of milk so a dry breakfast. I started by washing the roofing panels for Ernie’s shed. They cleaned up nice. Getting the tar paper down was a task due to the breeze. I managed to almost finish the roof but ran out of screws. I need another dozen to finish the last panel and the trim. Chili size for lunch. Dawn made an interesting salmon dinner in the pressure cooker. After dinner, Lou and I went to Lowe’s to get my screws.

Saturday: (10/05) I worked on Ernie’s shed electrical after finishing the roof trim. Granola for breakfast. A chicken hummus sandwich for lunch. Sweet Tomatoes Buffet for dinner.

Sunday: (10/06) Granola and diced apple for breakfast. I finished up Ernie’s shed today. I finished the electrical and energized it. And I raised the garden side and placed caulk on the bottom. All the other sides will have the siding go below the shed floor for waterproofing. Unfortunately the side that most needs that, the garden side cannot. So i added the caulk and will need to grind the concrete edge later to allow it to drain away from the shed. Lou made red peppers chicken soup with toast for lunch. Dawn made a fish stew for dinner.

Monday: (10/07) Lou and I were off to an appointment in the morning. After the appointment, we went to lunch at the Country Inn in Cupertino. Then Lou stopped by to look at new shoes and we did some other window shopping on the way home. At home, I relaxed the rest of the day. Lou and Dawn went to IKEA for a walk and dinner. I had leftover stew and a sausage for my dinner.

Tuesday: (10/08) Granola for breakfast. Leftover artichoke chicken and refried beans for lunch. Moin Moin for dinner. I have no idea what it is but Dawn made it. Interesting. I spent the morning doing tank duty on the RV. We are now ready for the next earthquake. Also ready for the coming PGE shutdowns due to high winds. Most of the day was spent researching how to fix the microwave in the RV. I ended up with a wiring diagram and determined if it wasn’t the door switch, it wasn’t worth fixing. It wasn’t the switch. I then searched for a replacement. I found one on Amazon. I found a better price at Best Buy and they had one in stock in Milpitas. After dinner, I made a return run to Lowe’s then went to Milpitas to pick up the microwave. May get it installed tomorrow.

Wednesday: (10/09) Up early for a shower before heading off with ernie to his appointment at VA. I waited around there and then after hs procedure we went to breakfast. We both had chicken fried steaks at A Good Morning Restaurant. I have to count two of my three healthy heart forgivenesses. At home I relaxed and napped for a while. Later in the afternoon I finished Ernie's shed electrical by installing his outside light. I had ordered the fisture and a couple of motion detecting dusk to dawn lamps. After installation Ernie had to wait until it got dark to see his new light work. I then worked on the RV microwave replacement. It wasn’t too hard to get the old microwave out. I just had to unscrew two 2” long bolts in blind spots with only1/5 inches of clearance. It took a while. I then compared the new unit to the old. It looks like I can use the old mounting plate. Tomorrow I’m going to get a couple of new bolts and fender washers to simplify reinstallation. Lunch and dinner were leftovers.

Thursday: (10/10) Granola for breakfast. I made a shopping run to several hardware stores and a bolt supply house looking for ¼”-28 hex bolts to replace the Phillips screw bolts that mount the microwave. Being able to use a ratchet would make installation much easier. No luck finding them. Lunch at Dim Sum King. Bak home, I tried to mount the microwave. It fit in place perfectly except for a new problem. The door on this microwave does not have a zero clearance door swing and needs an extra ¾” in width when the door swings open. Unfortunately, the left side is against the wall so it wont work. I packaged it all up and we all drove to Milpitas Bestbuy to return it. While there we bought another. This time it’s a Samsung instead of the LG. Dinner at Togo Sandwich shop. The new one seems to have little clearance needed. We continued to explore the nearby shops before heading home.

Friday: (10/11) Granola and banana for breakfast. I headed off for a hike at Calero County Park, Rancho San Vicente. 22 of us hiked 8.5 miles among the cows and tarantulas. Beautiful day and views. Thanks to our hike leader Tara. I’ve never hiked at this park before. Lunch at Super Taqueria in Morgan Hill. I headed don=wn to Gilroy since eI was more that halfway there. I stopped at Lowes and they had some drip edge metal that I hadn’t been able to find on my shopping run yesterday. I also visited SeeGrins RV to look at RV’s and at Camping World to look around. Back home I was just settling in for a rest after my shower when my new electric bike arrived on the porch. I had to get dressed to unpack and test ride my new toy. I had some refried beans with salsa and a sausage for dinner.

A Moving Experience

Thursday: (09/26) The last of the enchilada leftovers for breakfast. Lou was off to the market. Dawn and I headed to Santa Clara. I dropped Dawn off at the bookstore and I headed to Kaiser. They did a sonogram of my heart.. Fortunately, they found it. While there I also got my flu shot. After that, I picked up Dawn and we stopped at Lowe’s for some spray varnish for her project. Then we stopped to pick up my lunch. She had eaten at the bookstore. Then off to the Mountain View Library where she picked up a book she had reserved. I ate my lunch while she was there. And a final stop at the Palo Alto Main Library where she picked up another book. Back home, I decided to take a nap. That finished my day. While I was asleep. Lou and Dawn went to see a movie at the last movie theater in Menlo Park. it will be closing in a little while. Lou made fish with corn on the cob and toast for dinner.

Friday: (09/27) I was out early to start moving Ernie’s Shed. While he was moving things out, I was preparing the path for the move. I had to lay some paving bricks across the garden. Dawn had been busy saving some of the plants that were in the way. We picked up the building and placed four moving carts under it. Then we rolled it back to it’s old home on it’s new slab. We just parked it there. Then we erected the tent that I got and moved all the stuff back under the ent. After that i took a nice nap. Granola for breakfast. LUU Noodles for lunch. Leftover enchiladas for dinner.

Saturday: (09/28) Ernie and I took the shed off it’s carts and placed in position on the slab. The shed lays at just the right height to match Dawns but it needs some new sill boards for the front. I made a material list and headed off to Lowe’s. I got plywood for the roof. And some flashing and cement board for the base. The metal roof always causes condensation that drips on the shed contents. Adding the plywood eliminates the drip and makes a more solid roof. The cement board is placed over the baseboards to match the look of the other sheds in the yard. After tying down the load really well, I had to drive home very slowly because of some high winds. After unloading the car I called it a day. Granola and banana for breakfast. Lunch at Sweet Tomatoes Buffet. Leftover enchiladas for dinner.

Sunday: (09/29) I mounted Ernie’s shed. I also replaced some of the sill boards. And finally I rehung the door. The morning was quite nice but the wind picked up about noon. I didn’t want to work on the roof in the wind so I made a parts list for the electrical in the shed. Th headed off to the Sunnyvale Lowe’s store to get the materials I needed for the electrical. They were out or never had most of what I needed. Since I won’t shop at Home Depot and because most other options are gone in out=r area, I drove further South to the North San Jose Lowe’s. Eventually I located all that I needed. It was 1700 by the time I got home so i just unloaded the materials and took a shower. A chicken sausage and some granola for breakfast. BBQ veggies for lunch. Lou’s chili beans for dinner.

Monday: (09/30) Ernie and I installed the plywood roof sheathing on his shed. After lunch the wind was picking up. I needed some more screws for the roof and my tin snips from the house in San Jose. Lou needed to stop by at the RV shop and pick up some things from the RV. So we all went South. At the RV shop I learned the RV was ready. Good timing. I drove it home. Lou stopped by to pick up my snips. I stopped to get LPG and gas in the RV. The LPG tink shwed ¼ full and took 10 gallons to reach ¾ when it stopped. Nice to know it all works snow. At home The jacks and slides worked well. Because I got the RV, I didn’t stop by Lowe’s to get my screws so another trip is needed tomorrow. Granola for breakfast. A hummus and chicken sandwich for lunch. Leftover enchiladas for dinner.

Tuesday: (10/01) A nice chicken sausage and PB toast for breakfast. I went off to Lowe’s to get my screws. At home, I eventually went to work on the shed and was ready to get on the roof when I discovered I had the wrong sized screws. Back to Lowe’s again. Back home I had some chili beans for lunch. I was tired already so a nap got my attention. In the evening we all went to dinner at The Fish Market. I spent some time after dinner vacuuming the RV.

Starting To Fix Things

Monday: (09/16) I spent the morning printing manuals and used guides related to our RV systems. I also tinkered with the rear yard sprinklers. I cleaned out the valve innards for the sprinkler that had stuck on. I’m having trouble connecting the yard sprinkler controller to the new Internet SSID. I shutdown the old internet modem and packed it to ship back to Sonic. Granola for breakfast. A green salad for lunch. Chicken chorizo hash for dinner.

Tuesday: (09/17) Granola for breakfast. I took a walk to and through the Stanford campus this morning. I stopped for a mushroom omelet for brunch on campus. I walked about 6 miles. Back at home I tinkered with the RV slide problem. I also finally got the sprinkler controller connected to the new Internet and test the controller. Lots of drip emitters to fix. Spinach quiche with sautéed mushrooms for dinner.

Distant view of new housing. On the right the layout of the new Stanford housing.

Nearing completion of the new Stanford housing complex.

Breakfast from Coupa Cafe on Stanford Campus

Lou's new scooter arrived.

Wednesday: (09/18) I worked at cleaning out my shop enough to find my sprinkler parts. Other cleanup distracted me so not much work on the sprinklers after I did find the parts. I attended my Wednesday AlphaAnywhere webinar. In the evening we went to Stanford Mall to get some veggies at Sigona’s Market and take a walk. Lou got to use her new electric wheelchair. Granola and banana for breakfast. Chicken with hummus sandwich for lunch. Leftover chicken chorizo hash and a green salad for dinner.

Thursday: (09/19) Granola and banana for breakfast. I started by filling a second compost bin with leaves from behind the playhouse. I hate to leave an empty bin when something needs to be cleaned up. I had to do it early before the pickup, usually the first thing today but fortunately today was later. After that, I took a walk and watched some roofing material being delivered to the rooftop by a folding crane that could reach 80 feet across the roof. Back home I repaired Dawn’s zappy scooter headlight mount. I had to figure out how to reattach it without too much destruction and still be firmly mounted. I fabricated a new mount from a piece of 1” PVC pipe. I cut and bent it to allow it to be tie wrapped to the light and camped to the handlebar. After that I had lunch at Lucky Chinese, some chow fun noodles and black bean fish. Back home, I took a nap. Dinner was a baked potato.

Friday: (09/20) I worked on the sprinklers. I pulled in drip tubes through the conduits I installed under the sidewalk. Effectively, my days work brought a drip nozzle to the planter in front of the garage. I also called Leale's for an appointment to get some work done on the RV. English muffin with hummus for breakfast. Chill size for dinner. Chicken sandwich for lunch.

Dawn's Zappy headlight mount repair.

Saturday: (09/21) Lou watched her morning dog shows. I spent some time moving stuff out of the RV. We both went down to San Jose to regrout the kitchen sink at the rental house. Granola and banana for breakfast. A late lunch at Sweet Tomatoes. Chill size for dinner.

Sunday: (09/22) We all went out for a drive looking for plant share markets. Ours in Palo Alto disappeared. Dawn tried one in Redwood City but it didn’t exist as Google had led her to believe. We then tried one in Sunnyvale but arrive after they were through but the organizer gave Dawn information about hers and others. We also snagged a couple of strawberry plants from her. On the way home we stopped at the Goodwill store in sunnyvale for them to look around. I spent some time exposing some of the sprinkler pipes so that I can recircuit a couple of the pipes. I will need to get a couple of fittings tomorrow to complete the job. I also started all the burners and oven in the RV to burn off any remaining LPG. Unfortunately, even though it is beyond empty it still may have up to 6 gallons of LPG left? Lou made home fried potatoes with salsa and a side of grapes for breakfast. We stopped for lunch at a new Coupa Cafe in Los Altos on El Camino Real. It opened while we were gone and is the same cafe I enjoy on the Stanford Campus during my walks and the same Dawn enjoys downtown. BBQ fish for dinner.

Monday: (09/23) Granola and banana for breakfast. I drove the RV down to Leale’s in San Jose. Lou followed in the Jeep. The RV is having the inop jacks and slides and the LPG valve looked and an oil change. A stop at Lowe’s for a few PVC fittings for the sprinklers and some grocery shopping at Smart And Final before getting home. I recircuited the sprinkler pipes to reduce the number of emitters on the drip circuit. It wasn’t easy but eventually I prevailed and backfilled my hole. I still need to redo some drip tubing in the greenhouse to complete the job. After a shower, I got busy cooking. I made some meatless, cheeseless enchilada casserole. It turned out really good.

Upgrading To Fiber Internet

Wednesday: (09/11) Up at 0715 to have my breakfast and get ready for the fiber installer. The window to get our Internet upgraded to fiber is today from 0800-1600. It would be nicer if they were able to limit the window or at least provide updates on expected arrival. Of course, the locksmith called to say the new key FOB’s are in and they can only do the programming on Tuesday or Wednesday when there are two people working at the shop. I thought I’d have to wait until next week then Lou volunteered to take the Jeep down to have it done. While I waited for the ATT tech to arrive, I searched for information on the RV’s leveling jacks. Nothing in the information pack in the RV. I eventually found the appropriate information and tried to get the jacks to work. I did learn how to retract them manually or by jumper but haven't done it yet. To top that outage, the bedroom slide isn’t working. It has worked before without the jacks down but the jack error alarm may be inhibiting it now. The ATT tech, Francisco, arrived about 1430 and finished the install by 1630. The fiber required a relocation of our modem to the living room and likely the phone base unit. Also need to get a line to the fax. I updated the password and also setup the repeaters to work with the new unit rather than the old DSL. The down speed isn’t too much more that the DSL but the up speed is 10 times faster. Since a lot of the problems we’ve been having were likely a bad cable to the study where the old modem was, the system should be more reliable now. Lou brought me a nice Impossible burger from the Counter burger joint for lunch. She and Dawn had lunch there with Cecelia after their errands. For dinner Lou made fish, garlic potatoes and carrot salad.

Fiber cable pretty well hidden behind the vinyl siding channel.

The error code for the RV jack system

Thursday: (09/12) Lou made potato pancakes with sausage for breakfast. I got busy trying to raise the RV jacks. I eventually got them all up using my electric drill and a socket wrench. I lot a crawling under the RV. I finished getting them all up by about 1200. After a lot of scrubbing to get the grease off my hands and a shower, Lou and I headed off to an appointment with stop for lunch on the way. Sweet Tomatoes Buffet provided a good lunch. We had a Cardio Class at Kaiser where we basically learned how to eat and exercise to help my heart. While getting the jacks down, I trapped a 5 gallon bucket under the side of the RV. I sure wasn’t going to raise the RV again so I cut the bucket into pieces to get it out. Dawn made a nice Mediterranean eggplant and chicken dinner (Moussaka).

Walkabout RV Park, Kingsland, GA

Tuesday: (04/02) I walked over to the office and paid for four more days here. Lou made ham and eggs with potatoes for breakfast. Lou then reviewed our tax return and I printed and eFiled our tax return. Our oder problem seems to be better today. We had leftovers and a ham sandwich for lunch. After lunch we drove out to St Mary’s and toured the Submarine Museum and looked about the old town area. We walked around an old cemetery as well, met an interesting caretaker who told us about some of the history of the cemetery.  Back at camp we had more leftovers for dinner. After dinner we did our laundry and enjoyed a campfire with several other campers. We learned about the history of this RV park and its owner.

The submarine museum in St Mary's and a large submarine statue at the real submarine base.

A couple of pot bellied pigs at the park and some chickens.

Wednesday: (04/03) Granola with diced apple for breakfast. We took a walk around our campground in the morning. Eventually I had to get to work. I removed the toilet and checked for problems. It looked like the rubber gasket between the toilet and the flange was possibly not sealing tightly. I also sprayed the foam insulation into the wall where the vent had the draft. Then i needed to get parts so about noon I headed off to town to get a couple of things for the toilet fix. On the way I stopped at China King for lunch, the best egg foo young I’ve ever had. Then I picked up some things at Lowe’s. I needed a gasket for the bottom of the toilet and a valve and hose for the water to it. When I returned I determined the parts I got for the valve were wrong. We don’t need it anyway since we use the toilet dry with a spray bottle instead. I also trimmed up the gasket I bought to fit and reinstalled the toilet. I also reinstalled the wall panel I had removed when my foam cured enough. Lou was busy removing the tinting film from the driver and passenger side windows. Turns out we both needed some Goof Off to remove the sticky residue left by her film and my foam overflow. We returned to Lowe’s dropping Dawn off at the library on the way. By the end of the day we were back to normal in the bathroom. Lou made seafood salads for dinner. In the evening we joined the camofire.

Thursday: (04/04) Leftover Chinese fried rice with cheese for breakfast. We were off early to drive up to Savannah, Ga for the day. We rode the free trolleys and river boats and walked the streets looking at houses, plaques on statues and monuments, and visited the Colonial Park Cemetery. We had lunch at the Moon River Brewery. My broccoli soup was probably the best I’ve ever had. Because we drove over 217 miles to do this we arrived home well after dark. Nice day. Good weather, good time. We stopped on the way home and bought a wheelchair for Lou.

Friday: (04/05) Leftovers for breakfast. Ham and cheese sandwiches for lunch. Chinese food for dinner. Pretty much just relaxed at home all day. I visited Lowe’s and bought a sheet of plywood and had it cut to make a platform for the wheelchair in the rear of the Jeep so that it is stored at the bottom of the rear compartment and everything else sits on top of the box.

Saturday: (04/06) Breakfast at the RV Park clubhouse. Nice loquat pancakes and sausage quiche from eggs laid by the park chickens. Fortunately for the two park pot bellied pigs, the sausage was not home grown. I spent the morning assembling the box for the Jeep luggage area for the new wheelchair. It fits nicely though it does reduce the storage available for other things. We headed off about 1130 to try to get to a farmers market in Kingsland. It turns out it is a real farmers market held in the pavilion at the tiny park there. When the farmers have something to sell they show up there and sell it. Nobody there today. We did look around an estate sale nearby. All this made us hungry so we stopped for lunch at Cracker Barrel. Then we stopped off at home and dropped off leftovers then headed off to Woodbine to look around. We took a walk by the river there. Then more driving around. We stopped in St Mary’s to look at a couple of new model homes. And then a visit to Walmart before heading home. Leftovers for dinner.

A boat launch, pier and trails in Woodbine.

Sunday: (04/07) Lou made salmon hash and eggs for breakfast. We drove about 25 miles North to Jekyll Island for the day. We took the tram tour of the Historic District and then took a walk on the beach. Today was the inaugural trip for the new wheelchair. It worked well and the storage box worked well, as well. Well, Well. The island was foggy all day so no great views.. We had lunch at the Wharf restaurant. Another shopping visit to Walmart to get water and a bike lock for the wheelchair. Lou made chili for dinner.

A couple of the "cottages" on Jekyll Island. These were only for occasional use.

Sago palm fruit? and the trail to the beach.
Interesting ghost beach on the island.
