Bay Trail Bike Ride To Alviso

Tuesday: (12/22) A nice sunny day. I did another bike ride today. I had grand plans of riding the Bay Trail down to Alviso and doing the Alviso Slough Trail loop, then returning. That didn't work out. I didn't check the status of the trails there and the Alviso Slough Trail was closed in both directions due to levee reconstruction until 1/21/21. So, I enjoyed my trail snack lunch then toured Alviso before returning home. It was still a 24 mile ride. I was riding my fat tire e-bike using the lowest assist setting and returned with 30% of the battery capacity left. So, I still haven't maxed out the range on the bike. Riding uphill like last week really sucks the batteries down but today's ride was almost all flat trails right by the bay.

I had leftover corned beef hash and eggs for breakfast. Tuna trail snack for lunch. Baked potatoes with roast beef and cheese for dinner.

The skeleton of hanger One at Moffat Field. on the right, more bay view.

Even the birds are social distancing in the water.

Bike Ride To Arastradero Preserve And A Walk

Friday: (12/18) Lou and I headed off to the Walmart Neighborhood Market in Santa Clara. It’s our ham store. We got a few other things as well leaving over $120 there. Back home Lou mode breakfast of beef noodles. I got my bike out. It’s been nearly a month since I took it out. It just hid in the shop since I repaired the flat tire.

I rode up to the Arizona Cactus Garden on the Stanford Campus. The light on this bright day made it look really good.

Some nice flowers on display. From there I rode up Sand Hill Rod into the hills then came back down and out Alpine Rod into Portola Valley.

I ended up at my destination of the Arastradero Preserve.

I parked the bike and took a walk to rest my but and get circulation back in my hand. It was only a 45 mile walk then back on the bike toward home. I stopped and said hi to the Bol Park Donkeys on my way. I was home sometime after 4pm. I had a beef pot pie for dinner. I received two more cameras from Amazon. These will be for the front yard view and an inside the house view. Now I have seven cameras.

Palo Alto Redwood City Loop Ride

Thursday: (10/22) A nice bike ride today. I looked around the Stanford Arizona Cactus garden, my usual must see. I was surprised to still find many blooming cacti there. I then looked around downtown Menlo park. And finally I continued up to Redwood City where I stopped at El Grullense Taqueria and got one of their wonderful veggie burritos. I then biked home to eat it. A veggie burrito from El Grullense Taqueria in Redwood City for lunch and dinner.

Stanford Arizona Garden Visit

Saturday: (09/19) I took care of some tasks Lou gave me to start. I cleaned the garage window screen which is the exit for our cooler system. I also rearranged the hose for Ernie's sewer system service to the new faucet I installed. I adjusted the brakes on my bike. I took a bike ride around to see all the nearby construction sites to see how the buildings are progressing. I also visited the Stanford university Arizona Cactus Garden. Always nice to see the cactus blooming and many still are. I rode on up to Menlo Park then back home. Granola and a banana for breakfast. Chili beans for lunch. Roast sausage with vegetables with corn bread for dinner.

Baylands Explorations

Monday: (08/17) Waffles and sausage for breakfast. I took a bike ride out to the Palo Alto Baylands and Bixbee Park this morning. Only a couple of hours. It was nice outside with the breeze in my face, especially since we are having these extremely high temperature days. Green Pea salad for lunch. Chili beans for dinner with toast and apple pie. I received my new phone this afternoon and went to my local T-Mobile office to setup an account and transfer our phones. Mine was easy, getting Lou and Dawn from Verizon was difficult. I eventually succeeded getting theirs started about 2100.

Tuesday: (08/18) PBJ toast for breakfast. We relaxed in the yard in the morning. Later we all drove over the mountain to Santa Cruz. We stopped at the San Lorenzo nursery, in particular to look at plants. They have the best selection of plants of any nursery anywhere nearby. They also have an excellently stocked hardware and lumber store. Next stop, of course, was a stop at a thrift store. They on downtown for a look around the Santa Cruz Bookstore. We had lunch at the Walnut Cafe. Wonderful food there. Finally we headed up Highway One toward Half moon bay. Near Waddell Beach, lots of smoke and flames on the hill and the beaches were still packed with people. It was actually burning the shrubs and grass on one side of the road and had a packed beach on the other side. Santa Cruz was hot at 87 degrees. Only 71 degrees above Davenport. 66 degrees in Half Moon Bay. Also from Santa Cruz up to above Waddell Beach the smoke clouds were brown and the ocean water looked brown as well. Not pretty. We received an evacuation notice text message as we passed through. Back home to the heat we enjoyed the Democratic Convention on TV.

Wednesday: (08/19) Waffles and sausage for breakfast. I attended my Wednesday AlphaAnywhere webinar this morning. Lou prepared roasted tomatoes and bacon for “make your own” sandwiches for lunch. After lunch Lou and I went shopping at Sprout’s market and Target. I spent the rest of the afternoon tinkering on the computer in the RV. We have serious air pollution now due to a huge fire in the mountains between us and the ocean. We passed it yesterday when it was much smaller. Evidently 10x bigger today. Weird orange skies and ashes falling everywhere. This along with our unusually hot weather make for fun times. Dawn made some fish over rice for dinner.

Baylands Bike Ride

Monday: (06/22) Lou’s blueberry pudding cake for breakfast. I took a nice bike ride this morning. First to Ace Hardware for d=some bolts. Then on to the baylands then back to downtown Mountain View then on to downtown Los Altos then home. About 10 miles. A pastrami and cheese sandwich for lunch. I tinkered a little, mostly trying to securely attach the handrail to the RV. I didn’t have any lunch and needed longer bolts so later in the afternoon I drove back to Ace with Lou and got longer bolts.. I managed to get it secured. Not as good as I had hoped but better. Unfortunately the bolts have to go through the wall at an angle to be able to get the nut on inside. Lou and I picked all the apricots from our tree. Not too many, about a gallon of them. Hamburger and corn on the cob for dinner.
