Delaware Water Gap NRA, Stroudsburg, Pa

Sunday: (06/23) Granola for breakfast. We prepared to roll and were on the road a little after 1000. We headed up Hwy 222, 22, 33, 209 (?) to Stroudsburg. We stopped near Reading for lunch at a Weis Market. We got gas in Stroudsburg then looked for a campground. We decided on the Foxwood Family Campground. It’s a little rundown but close to the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. I wanted to look around and thought I might do some more of the Appalachian Trail. That isn’t likely now that I need to rest my right foot. We’re also looking for a real rural forest service like campsite.

Monday: (06/24) Granola for breakfast. I paid for two more nights here. We got off to a slow start today. We dropped a couple of boxes off at the Post Office and also found a medical supply shop where Lou got a knee brace. We continued up Highway 209 to the park headquarters. Not much there but the did have a nap if the park. We then stopped for lunch at a Chinese buffet before continuing up the road.  We visited the Bushkill Falls thinking we’d have a nice hike but it, like much of the area is private and ridiculously expensive so we just visited the museum and shops and skipped the falls. We  explored the Dingmans Campground and reserved a site for our next stop. It’s more natural than where we are staying and is half price because it is a federal campground. It’s only water and electric but does have nice showers. Lou made BBQ ribs with finger potatoes and corn on the cob for dinner.

Tuesday: (06/25) Granola for breakfast. Repetitive breakfast because I need to take a pill and eat with it so my breakfast is first thing. Lou and get more variety. I called Dingmans CG and extended our reservation through the 7th of July. I generally tinkered at the computer and watched TV all day while Lou and Dawn were busy sewing and beading. I had a nice wiener hummus and cheese sandwich for lunch. About 1600 Lou couldn’t stand relaxing any  more so she and Dawn headed off to Stroudsburg to shop. In the evening we put all the outside stuff away while it’s dry. We leave tomorrow. We had a few short showers in the morning, otherwise a really nice day.
