Coaldale, Co

We woke to gray skies, then some rain, then snow. What fun. About 9am, I walked next door to the FedExKinko's to get the package from Dawn. Like magic, it was there. We prepared to leave, but first I had to take care of some business online. When we were ready, we drove out to the Garden Of The Gods and took a little driving tour. The weather still wasn't nice so we didn't hike.

We returned to the RV and had lunch, during which the wind started blowing really hard, like 45 mph. After lunch, we hooked up. The winds had died down some but were still noticeable on the highway. We misread or? the signs to Hwy 115 toward Canon City so we took a little tour of Southern Colorado Springs. Finally finding our way, the road was nice the rest of the way to Canon City. Just before we got there, Lou said she heard something so we stopped to check outside the RV. Good thing! The padlock that latches the towbar to the car had broken. It could have fallen out at anytime. I replaced the lock with a spare latch pin and we continued.

We drove out to Royal Gorge and rode the incline railroad, the aerial tram and walked the suspension bridge.

The bridge was bouncing and twisting, not visable in the above picture. There were some odd signs on the bridge.

And, of course, we were on the bridge.

The aerial tram was lots of fun with the wind blowing so hard. Even more fun was the walk across the bridge. If you've ever seen the film of the suspension bridge falling apart in the wind near Seattle, Washington, then you have an idea what the bridge looked like. Waving and twisting due to the wind. There wasn't any danger of the bridge failing but it did look weird. I made a special effort to hold on to my hat because the climb down to the river to retrieve it would have been treacherous.

We then headed West on highway 50 stopping for the night in Coaldale at the Bighorn RV Park.

We've been disconnected for nine days now so we needed to relieve out holding tanks of their burden. While I was doing my duty with the tanks, it started snowing. We've now been out for 15 days and we've had snow all but 4 of those days. Ahh!, Spring in Colorado

The pictures below were taken in the morning before we departed.

Our site at BigHorn RV park was near the river and had a view of th cows. What more could lou want?

The lock to the towbar on the car broke. It was where the ring pin is now.
