Bishop Peak Hike (SLO)

Wednesday: (03/05) Leftovers from LUU Noodle House for breakfast. Another nice morning. We drove down to San Luis Obispo (SLO) for the day.

Bishop Peak Hike. The hike was 4.3 miles with an elevation change of 1207 feet.

I was dropped off for a hike up to Bishop Peak. It’s an SLO city park/Open Space that begins at the edge of a residential area West of town. You can see the peak ahead on the trail near the start of the hike in the right picture above.

Some of the trail is through a nice forested area, the rest is rather exposed. On the right above is a view toward downtown SLO.

Another view toward SLO on the left above. On the right above is a steep downward view sowing some of the trail leading up the hill.

Above left is some proof I actually made it to the top, or at least one of the tops. There are several rock piles at the top the one I’m pictured in is the easier. The one on the right is the highest pile and is more difficult to get to. There is a log book there.

Above left is a view of the first pile I scaled where I had my picture taken. Above right is a view toward the coast from the peak. There were several buzzards and a couple of hawks flying all over near the top and below where I was at on the peak.

Lou and Dawn were busy checking out a couple of thrift stores. They both got tired, Lou due to her bad leg and Dawn due to a cold. When I had walked back downtown (2.9 miles from the end of the hike and another 562 down hill), I called them and they were back in Pismo Beach and had to return to pick me up.

We had chocolate dipped strawberries for lunch. Some relaxing in the afternoon. For dinner Lou made roast beef with corn on the cob, mashed potatoes and broccoli slaw.
