Las Vegas Visit

Monday: (01/04) Breakfast of PBJ English muffins. I had a quick dentist appointment which went well. Just a look see and a little grinding and I was off in 15 minutes. We were on the road to Las Vegas by 0930 from Cupertino. We stopped for lunch at Harris Ranch on I5 near Coalinga. I had the corned beef hash breakfast and Ernie had the chicken fried steak. We arrived in Las Vegas at 1830, pretty good time. It was a little foggy all the way down and through Bakersfield but the sun appeared about half way up to Tehachipi. I was in the co-pilot seat and played on the computer much of the way. We had dinner at the Orleans buffet and checked into our room at the Wild Wild West. Since I'm here, I checked at the Rio but the Show In The Sky was dark. Darn!

Tuesday: (01/05) After breakfast at McDonald's we picked up the truck at Budget. We worked all morning stuffing the truck with Ernies storage locker contents. It was like assembling a Chinese puzzle. We finished about 2pm. After a stop at the thrift store to donate some things and a stop to buy a lock for the truck door we dined at Carl's Jr getting their Carl's big star burger combos. We were on the road before 4pm.
Weather was nice all the way home except for a little fog coming down int Bakersfield from Tehachapi and passing by San Luis Reservoir on Highway 152. We stopped for dinner at Bill Lee's Bamboo Chopstick Restaurant. Bakersfield is famous for it's Cantonese Chinese restaurants and Basque restaurants. The two best Chinese restaurants are Bill Lee's and the Rice Bowl, both downtown and next to each other. It's usually a coin toss to decide which to go to, they're both excellent. We also picked up a package at our Aunt Helen's and stopped by the Winco Market. We don't have Winco near home and our Red Rose tea is cheaper there. We were in Bakersfield less than an hour for dinner and errands. The trip from Las Vegas to Palo Alto was grueling being done in one day, down and back in less than 48 hours but no time was wasted and the job was done. 1100 miles down and back.
