Port Of Port Townsend

Saturday: (10/08) We were up early and drove down to the port to see if our desired spot was available in the Point Hudson Marina and RV Park aka the Port of Port Townsend. One of the two dry sites was available last night but we had already checked in to Fort Worden. Either dry site has better views than any of the hookup sites even though they all have good views as well. The office opened at 8am and we were there very shortly thereafter. The best site, one with views in three directions was full last night and since they don't have to check out until 11am we paid for the site behind it with views in two directions. We also told the clerk that we were really interested in the one in front and if the people left we'd like to move into it. she said she'd let us know. We returned to our place at Fort Worden. They were having a run there so there were some closed streets and detours in the park. We enjoyed a breakfast of French toast then took our showers. We filled our water and dumped since we were moving to a dry site.

When we arrived with the RV at the harbor, there was a note attached to one of our chairs that we had left in the new site. It said we could move into the site we wanted. We are now camped with clear views to the North and East of Whidbey Island and South of the harbor. We'll be here for at least two nights.

We settled in and enjoyed the view for a while. About noon we walked downtown. The sun came out and was out most of the afternoon. We walked to the far side of downtown to Don's Pharmacy and had lunch at the lunch counter. I had a chili burger and Lou had chili fries, both very good. We were too full to have one of the their home made pies for desert. Unfortunately they close at 4pm and aren't open on Sunday so we'll likely miss out on one of their deserts. We looked around some of the antique stores then returned to our view site.

Big Band At Fort Worden
In the evening we went back over to Fort Worden to a Big Band Concert at the Wheeler Theater performed by the Centrum Jazz Workshop directed by John Clayton. We really enjoyed John Clayton's speaking about jazz and the groups performance.

Sunday: (10/09) Lou made Don McMuffins for breakfast. We enjoyed the view from our perch above the harbor this morning. It was a mostly sunny day today for a change.

Beach At Port Townsend Chetzemoka Park In Port Townsend
We took a walk along the beach to the city park on top of a cliff overlooking Juan De Fuca Straight. A visit to an old 1917 garage that is now an antique auto specialty shop and a visit to the market and the rest of the day was spent at home. We had lunch atthe market sharing some Chinese food. For dinner Lou prepared BBQ ribs with baked potatoes and broccoli slaw.

Don's Pharmacy Fountain In Port Townsend
Monday: (10/10) We had breakfast at Don's Pharmacy's Fountain Cafe. I had pancakes with eggs and bacon and Lou had ham and eggs. This is definitely a locals diner so it's fun to listen in. The day started with rain but then became quite nice most of the day. In the evening the winds picked up to become fierce. For lunch Lou made some tomato and pepper soup. We relaxed at home all day except for doing the laundry. For dinner Lou made latkas with sausage.
