We left Red Rock State Park and headed North, still hoping to get into Death Valley before the storm. Wind wasn't at all bad and little rain but at the junction of Hwy 395 and Hwy 14 the big message sign said Hwy 395 was closed to high vehicles. We called for road conditions and they said Hwy 395 was closed to high vehicles as well as due to snow and flooding. Nuf said, we turned around and went down Hwy 395 toward Barstow. We looked at a nice antique store at the junction of Hwy 58. Wind and rain much of the way but not bad.
We stopped in Barstow and looked around a little and did some shopping. When we headed East on I15 the wind got really bad so we stopped just at the Calico Ghost town exit and parked tail to the wind for the night in a closed truck stop. The wind really blew much of the evening so we're glad we stopped.
