We left Furnace Creek in Death Valley this morning via Hwy 190 East.
We stopped at Zabriskie Point to admire the view.
Just East of Death Valley Junction (Hwy 127) we turned North into the Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge. We had yet to get a look at the elusive pupfish and they are reported to be plentiful here. We went to the Crystal Spring area and walked the boardwalk by the stream and to the spring. Lots of playful pupfish to watch. Check that off our list. The road into the refuge is a gravel road and the roads signs both from the highway and within the refuge are not that good. Easy to miss turns and mileages are grossly in error. However, a nice place to visit all the same. It's just no fun having to try to turn around the RV with toad on a narrow gravel road.
We then went on to Pahrump and the Terrible's Lakeside RV Park. NOT at all terrible! A very nice park with good rates and cheap meals at the casino. We'll have to stay here a while. Our site is right on the lake. They allow washing the RV here so that's on the list tomorrow.
