Thursday: (08/18) We did our tank duty again and got gas and were on our way South on the Richardson highway toward Valdez.
Our first stop was at Santa's House in North Pole, Alaska. Lou and Dawn got to sit on Santa's lap and, I assume, give him their Christmas requests but the picture didn't turn out. Above right Santa left on a parts run.
We also stopped at the Knotty Gift Shop where we saw this rather large mosquito. It's another turist trap that did have some nice burl art.
Our next stop was at Rika's Roadhouse. It is located by the highway bridge that crosses the Tanana River. It's been a road house, a road camp and a military camp. There was a nice garden by the roadhouse and a very friendly ram. The Alaska pipleline crossing the Tennana River there as well.
We continued on down to Delta State Recreation Area campground in Delta Junction where we stayed for the night. Chorizo potatoes with fried eggs for breakfast. Hamburgers for lunch. Chili sizes for dinner.
