Fairbanks, Final Days

Tuesday: (08/16) Granola and yogurt for breakfast. Leftovers for lunch and dinner. Lou and I dropped Dawn off at the university where she spent the day at the bookstore and library. We then stopped by the laundromat we used a few days ago and bought some water. When we did our tank duty yesterday we also filled our drinking water bottles. The city tap water here in Fairbanks is so chlorinated it is undrinkable. The laundromat sold their water for 25 cents for five gallons. We taste tested it and it was good so we refilled our drinking water bottles. I really can't understand why Alaskans think their water is so good. Most places it's at best passable yet they don't have filtered drinking water vending machines anywhere. We were pleasantly surprised to find the laundromat had both good water and that they sold it. Lou and I looked around more of the town while Dawn was busy. We enjoyed a mostly sunny day today and no rain.

Melodrama In Pioneer Park
Wednesday:
(08/17) Dawn spent the morning back at the UAF library while Lou and I did our laundry. We did a little shopping before picking Dawn up. We all took a walk around downtown in the afternoon. In the evening we went into Pioneer Park where we listened to the music at the Gazebo looked around at a bunch of classic cars and then attended the old time show at the Palace Theater.

Strawberry pancakes and ham for breakfast. Lima bean soup and toast for lunch. Chicken stir fry for dinner.

Thursday: (08/18) We're off toward Valdez this morning.
