Monday: (09/05) We had McDonald's breakfasts this morning. I had a couple of breakfast burritos while Lou had oatmeal. I fueled up and got LPG by Walmarts. The station there also has a dump an water but we didn't need it. Walmart doesn't have a market here so we stopped at the Canadian Super Store for groceries. It's the only supermarket in town. Our next stop was the laundromat. We'll be out in some pretty small towns for the next week or so and likely no laundromats to be had. While I watched the washers Lou cooked up some French onion soup for lunch. With all our tasks done we hit the road about 1230. There was quite a nip in the air in Whitehorse but the sky was getting clear.
My it's a long road. Not much to stop at on the way. Just miles and miles of miles and miles.
We did stop at the Rancheria Falls and took a walk.
The two falls look much like our last visit here over two months ago except for all the yellow and red plants and trees.
There were also scads of mushrooms now that weren't here last time.
We stopped down the road a little ways at the Big Creek Campground about 30 miles before our turn off Highway 1, the Alcan Highway onto Highway 37 the Cassiar Highway. With all the free firewood at the campground and some good weather we enjoyed a nice campfire. It was also much warmer at Big Creek than back at Whitehorse. Big Creek is about 40 km West of Watson Lake.
