Chilkoot River Bears
Sunday: (09/04) We got up early and drove out to watch the bears on the Chilkoot River. There was a mother grisly and her two two year old cubs at the fish weir. The fish and game man working the weir scared them away and they walked down river to the bay.
More bears above. We also watched a mother grisly and her two yearling cubs on the far side of the river below the weir. Also lots of eagles by the river and bay.
We returned to the RV park to have bread pudding for breakfast and do our tank duty, take showers and check out by 11am. We had hoped to get some salmon chowder we noticed a couple of days ago at a cafe downtown but on Sunday they only do breakfast. Maybe next time we're here? We fueled up and headed off. No problem crossing the border as usual.
Haines highway leaving Haines. We stopped at a rest area along the way for lunch. Chili sizes chased with bread pudding. I was a little drowsy so we stopped at another rest stop just outside Haines Junction. As we pulled in the kitchen cupboard opened and a glass lid broke and pieces of glass were all about. While I napped, Lou vacuumed. We continued on to Whitehorse and had dinner at the Klondike Ribs And Salmon BBQ again. We shared some ribs then stopped by Walmart for the night. We needed to get a few things here before we head out. We did a little shopping at Walmart before calling it a night. I found some good, cheap DVD's so we can exist away form civilization with no over the air TV. We watched some old Betty White TV shows. The show was called Date With The Angels and was aired in 1957. The shows were very good.
